“My Indian Boyfriend” (MIB) is a feature film project created and led by Dr Hiu Man Chan, Executive Producer and Senior Lecturer in Creative Industries at De Montfort University.
The film is to be directed by Vijay Chauhan, a Leicester born young filmmaker.
Set in Leicester and shaped by student life, this film is looking for DMU students to take part in on-campus auditions during our casting period. At its centre is the relationship between Krishna, a British Indian graduate, and Jasmine, a Chinese architecture student finding her place in the city—two people whose lives briefly intersect over one summer.
Alongside their story, the film follows the wider rhythm of student life: friendships forming and fading, ambitions taking shape, and the quiet uncertainty of standing on the edge of what comes next.
The project team is interested in people rather than performers—students who are curious, present, and comfortable being themselves on screen.
Casting process is currently ongoing for:
- Lead Actor to play Krishna
- Lead Actress to play Jasmine
- Supporting actors to play family members and friends
- Extras
